What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a very broad term used to describe a ‘condition’, prescribed or otherwise, experienced by all human beings. It differs only in degree, not in kind. If you are at a place where anxiety appears to be running your life and your coping mechanisms are failing, then now is a good time to do something about it.
Symptoms include many physical reactions like short breaths and increased heart rate. These are normal and expected bodily reactions to perceived threats. Often the most troubling to us though are the almost constant thought patterns which tend to have a negative feel. It is almost as if we are expecting something bad to happen. There can be a very real sense of impending doom, even when we can logically deduce that our lives are not in immediate danger. All this can lead to lack of sleep and illness, which tend to feed the anxiety even more.
Anxiety is often medicated through substance abuse, or by seeking pharmaceutical solutions. Whilst there may be some merit in using these methods in the short term, lasting change can only be gained by looking at the causes, not just the effects.
It is an exhausting and endless cycle to try to remove or combat all external threats in our lives. In this state, everything and everyone looks menacing. You have had enough of this hyper-vigilant state; it is time to relax. Do yourself a favour and let us show you how.
