A Fusion of Western Expertise and Local Knowledge
banyantree21 was founded in 2016 by Clifford Edwards and his partner Wanvisa Inthep. Having both previously struggled with addiction, they wanted to draw on their own experiences to create a unique treatment programme using methods that they have found to be successful in their own recovery.
Wanvisa, who received her Masters in International Management from the University of Bellevue, USA, returned to Thailand to carry on her studies in traditional Thai herb healing. Wanvisa studied under Dr Ajan Kitti who is the Chairman of The Association of Alternative and Holistic Health Service at Lumphun, Chiang Mai.
Clifford, originally from the UK, has over a decade of experience helping people with their addiction problems. Clifford moved to Thailand in 2015 to continue his work as a counsellor in rehabs in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai. It was during this time working in Chiang Mai that he met Wanvisa, who owned a 14-acre facility and was looking to use it to help people battle addiction utilising her knowledge of traditional Thai herb healing.
From their fusion of Western expertise and local knowledge, the banyantree21 residential addiction treatment centre was born.
